The Circa Survivor contest has become the most prestigious and brutal survivor pool in the country — a high-stakes gauntlet where just one wrong pick can erase your shot at a life-changing prize.

The contest enters its sixth year, and has been growing at a rapid pace over the last few years.

Last year’s version once again required entrants to navigate 20 correct selections, including two special holiday slates. With over 14,000 entries and just eight survivors, it reinforced a key truth: surviving each week isn’t enough — you need to plan with precision, adapt quickly, and find leverage against the crowd to maximize your chances.

For 2025, we have written a Circa Strategy Guide that you can download here. In the guide, we break down the key strategic concepts, highlight insights from past years (including 2024), and walk through what’s different in 2025 that will impact your planning.

Whether you’re playing with one entry or ten, this resource is designed to give you a sharper edge — built on data, probability, and survivor-specific thinking.

Circa Survivor: Contest Format & Rules Overview

If you’re new to Circa Survivor, here’s what you need to know:

  • $1,000 per entry. Up to 10 entries per person.
You can play solo or manage a full portfolio — many serious players buy multiple entries to increase flexibility and upside.

  • Pick one team each week to win.
No spreads. Just choose one NFL team to win its game outright. If they lose (or tie), that entry is eliminated.

  • You can only use each team once.
Choose wisely. A team like Kansas City might look great early — but you may need them more later.

  • Two special holiday weeks require extra picks:

    • Week 13 (Thanksgiving + Black Friday): You must make a pick from just the eight teams playing across four early-week games.

    • Week 17 (Christmas Day): Three games are played on December 25. You must pick one of the six teams involved.

  • Last entry standing wins — or shares the pot.
If multiple entries survive all 20 picks, they split the prize pool. In 2024, eight entries out of 14,185 made it to the end.

  • Picks lock early.
You must submit your pick before kickoff (if you are picking a team playing in the Thursday game that week) or submit your pick by Saturday afternoon (for all remaining games on Sunday or Monday). So you won’t be able to react on Sunday morning to late-breaking injury news. The holiday weeks also have their own special deadlines that you will want to pay attention to.
