Splash Pick Assignment Tool

More about how the tool works

  • How picks are assigned: entries are filled one at a time, starting with the ones that have used the least Future Value. Each gets the picks that keep the running mix closest to your targets, so every group of similar entries ends up near the target mix, and in weeks with more than one pick the pairs of teams are spread out too. Picks only go to teams you targeted, and never past a target. Anything left over stays blank for you to fill in.
  • Future Value: our measure of how much a team is likely to help you in later weeks. A strong team with good matchups ahead has a lot of it, so using it now costs you later. An entry that has used the least Future Value so far has the most strong teams left.
  • Games that have started: picks on them can't change in Splash, so they stay as they are in your file, and nobody else can be given those teams.
  • Your saved work: it's kept in this browser for the rest of the week. Open the page again and click Continue, or upload the same pool's file again, to pick up where you left off.

Playing a lot of entries in a Splash survivor contest? This free tool helps you make picks for all of them at once.

Upload the pick template Splash gives you and tell us how you want this week's picks spread, like 40% of entries on KC and 25% on BUF. Then we'll assign a pick to every entry, distributing them so that your entries with similar past picks get a mix of this week's options that's close to your target mix. Finally, you download a file to upload back to Splash.

To use the tool:

  1. In Splash, download the pick template for your contest, then upload it here. It lists your entries, their past picks and this week's teams.
  2. Optionally, add rules that keep two teams off the same entry, like "never put JAC and SF on the same entry".
  3. Enter how you want your entries spread across teams this week, as a percent of entries or a number of entries. Then click Distribute picks.
  4. Review the result. Click a number in the review tables to list those entries, and change any pick you want.
  5. Download the file and upload it to Splash.
