We have one week until Augusta in One and Done pools, and the final preparation stop is in San Antonio for the Valero Texas Open. Several of the top golfers are using this as an opportunity to get live competition after taking the last two weeks off.

Adding to the drama, if someone can win this week who is not otherwise qualified, they can claim the final spot in the 2026 Masters field.

Valero Texas Open One and Done Picks: Purse Info

The Valero Texas Open has a total prize purse of $9,800,000. The winner receives $1,710,000.

That first-place prize is the same as last week’s Houston Open, and ranks middle-of-the-pack on the standard One and Done schedule (Tier 3 by prize money). The field this week is a little tougher up top, though, with more of the top-ranked golfers opting to play in this event.

If you want to see where this tournament’s purse ranks in your specific PGA One and Done pool, you can set up your pool entry in our Golf One and Done Picks product.

Valero Texas Open Overview for One and Done Pools

This analysis is a complement to the data in our product, which provides customized weekly pick grades that account for factors like:

  1. The total number of picks you need to make this season.
  2. The specific tournaments included in your pool.
  3. The golfers you’ve already used so far.

Here are a few notable highlights for the 2026 Houston Open field:

  • 132 golfers in the field, with a cut. It’s a standard PGA field size.
  • Brian Harman won here a year ago, and four other past winners are in the field: Brian Harman’s last win came here, and J.J. Spaun (2022) and Jordan Spieth (2021) are also playing. Two other winners from 10 or more years ago are also playing as longer shots: Charley Hoffman and Jimmy Walker.
  • Eight of our Top 20 are playing: Tommy Fleetwood is our highest-ranked golfer in the field (No. 5 overall), but we also have Ludvig Aberg, Russell Henley, Si Woo Kim, Robert MacIntyre, Hideki Matsuyama, Maverick McNealy, and Collin Morikawa participating. All of them rank inside our current Top 20 golfers. [UPDATE: Morikawa withdrew on Tuesday.]
  • Sudarshan Yellamaraju is the golf story of 2026 so far; he’s playing to get into The Masters. PGA Tour rookie Sudarshan Yellamaraju, a 24-year-old Canadian, has shot all the way up to No. 26 in our golfer rankings, after a 6th-place finish last week and a 5th-place finish at The Players Championship. He is the highest-rated golfer in this field not already qualified for The Masters next week, ahead of Rickie Fowler (No. 36).
