The PGA Tour heads to Cromwell, Connecticut, for the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands — one of the most fan-friendly and historically rich events on the calendar.

Coming off the grind of Shinnecock Hills last week, this tournament represents a dramatic shift in both tone and scoring environment. The Travelers is the final Signature Event of 2026, featuring a world-class field, and with The Open Championship and the FedEx Cup Playoffs still ahead, deployment strategy remains important this week.

Here’s what you need to know for your Golf One and Done picks this week.

Travelers Championship One and Done Picks: Purse Info

The Travelers Championship carries a $20,000,000 purse, with $3,600,000 going to the winner. That matches the other Signature Events on the PGA Tour calendar and still makes this a high-value week for One and Done pools, coming directly off the U.S. Open.

With The Open Championship and the FedEx Cup Playoffs still remaining, some save logic applies for the very top options. However, this is still a week where deploying strong golfers makes sense, and playing to your position in the standings becomes increasingly important. (We cover that below.)

Here are a few notable highlights for the 2026 Travelers Championship field:

72 players, no cut. All players are guaranteed four rounds, making this a pure stroke-play format where everyone finishes.
The shortest course on the PGA Tour schedule. TPC River Highlands plays as a par 70 at approximately 6,852 yards — the shortest venue on Tour in 2026. What it lacks in length, it more than compensates for with strategic demands: tree-lined fairways, a premium on iron play into medium-sized elevated greens, and a finishing stretch that has produced some of the most memorable moments in Tour history. Jim Furyk shot 58 here in 2016, and Cameron Young shot 59 in 2024. This course can yield extremely low scores when the irons and putter heat up.
A dramatic shift from last week. After the grind of Shinnecock Hills, where finishing under par was a rare achievement, expect a winning score in the range of 18-22 under par at River Highlands. Birdies are available, but the greens still punish imprecision and big numbers can quickly derail a round.
Course history is particularly sticky here. Past performance at TPC River Highlands tends to be more predictive than at many Tour venues. The same names frequently appear near the top of the leaderboard. Keegan Bradley, Patrick Cantlay, Justin Thomas, Brian Harman, Tommy Fleetwood, Harris English, and Scottie Scheffler have all posted multiple top-15 finishes here in recent years.
Keegan Bradley has won two of the last three editions. Bradley won here last year and two years earlier, making him one of the clear course specialists in the field. He enters looking for his best showing of 2026, as a 12th-place finish at the RBC Heritage remains his top result this season.
Wyndham Clark enters as the U.S. Open champion. Clark won last week at Shinnecock Hills and enters with excellent recent form (3.3 SG). Fresh major champions tend to attract significant One and Done interest, and Clark’s availability should still be above average.
Sam Burns was the U.S. Open runner-up. Burns finished second last week and has been one of the hottest players on Tour over the last month (3.0 SG, with finishes of 2nd, 20th, and 4th in recent starts). He also owns strong course history at TPC River Highlands.
Rory McIlroy is not playing this week. His absence opens additional win equity for the rest of the field and removes one of the potentially most popular picks from consideration.

Before we get into the odds and the most popular picks, a quick word on strategy now that the U.S. Open is complete.

For many pools, four major opportunities with winner payouts of roughly $3.6 million remain:

Travelers Championship
The Open Championship
FedEx St. Jude Championship

With only four more chances to land a $3 million-plus winner, you need to be intentional about your strategy.

Two factors should drive your decision-making:

How far behind (or ahead of) a prize position you are in total earnings. This determines the range of outcomes you need and how many events you may need to hit.
How many entries stand between you and the prize cutoff. This determines how unique your picks need to be.

Those factors are related, but they are not the same.

If you are $4 million behind but only one entry stands between you and a prize position, that is very different from a scenario where 100 entries separate you. In the first case, you mostly need to avoid overlapping with your direct competition. In the second, you need meaningful differentiation from much of the field.
