Rocket Classic: Golf One and Done Picks Strategy (2026)

The Rocket Classic has moved to late July, and several golfers will hope to cash in One and Done pools in the tournament's final edition.

21-year-old Jackson Koivun is coming off his first career PGA Win, in only his third start as a pro.

The PGA Tour heads to Detroit, Michigan for the Rocket Classic at Detroit Golf Club — and this year’s edition carries a bittersweet note. This is the final Rocket Classic, as the sponsorship is ending and there is no scheduled PGA Tour stop in Detroit for 2027. The event goes out on a high note, however, drawing one of the stronger fields in its short history, with 11 players ranked in our Top 25 teeing it up this week.

Here’s what you need to know for your Golf One and Done picks this week.

Rocket Classic One and Done Picks: Purse Info

The Rocket Classic carries a $10,000,000 purse, with $1,728,000 going to the winner — slightly higher than recent lower-tier events like the 3M Open and John Deere Classic. With the FedEx St. Jude Championship and BMW Championship still ahead as premium events, save logic applies for the most constrained players, though availability is high across most of this field.

Rocket Classic Overview for One and Done Pools

This analysis is a complement to the data in our product, which provides customized weekly pick grades that account for factors like:

  • The total number of picks you need to make this season.
  • The specific tournaments included in your pool.
  • The golfers you’ve already used so far.

Here are a few notable highlights for the 2026 Rocket Classic field:

  • 145 golfers in the field, with a cut at 65 and ties.
  • The final Rocket Classic. This is the last edition of the event at Detroit Golf Club, with the sponsorship ending after this year and no PGA Tour stop scheduled in Detroit for 2027. The tournament has been a fixture on the post-Open summer schedule since 2019, and it closes out with one of its best fields.
  • A stronger field than usual. Despite being a lower-purse event, the schedule change, where the Rocket Classic falls two weeks after The Open Championship, rather than between the U.S. Open and Open Championship, may have contributed to a slightly stronger field than normal. Players wanting one tuneup before the FedEx Playoffs can play this week after resting following the Open, and still get another week off next week.
  • Cameron Young headlines the field. Young is the top-ranked player this week and arrives in the best recent form in the field at 3.3 strokes gained over his recent stretch. He is the clear betting favorite at +1025.
  • Cameron Davis is a two-time champion. Davis has improbably won here twice in the short history of the event. He enters as one of the more compelling course specialist plays this week, and his odds (+60000) are long again.
  • Jackson Koivun arrives in excellent form after winning the 3M Open last week. Koivun’s win in Minnesota — his first PGA Tour title — was a big coming out party, as he has now made three professional starts. Improbably, Koivun with less than a month on Tour has moved into 70th on the FedEx Points list with just two events remaining, putting him right on the cut line to qualify to play at the FedEx St. Jude.
  • FedEx Cup positioning remains a factor. With the playoff cutoffs approaching, players on the bubble for the Top 70 (FedEx St. Jude) and Top 50 (BMW Championship and Signature Event exemptions) have extra incentive to perform well this week.
