The PGA Tour heads to a Texas Two-Step before the Masters, and first up is the Texas Children’s Houston Open for your One and Done picks this week.

Scottie Scheffler was expected to play here, but he withdrew on Tuesday, which opens up the chances for everyone. Several other hot young names will be in action this week, and it is a good week to take a shot on some upside.

Houston Open One and Done Picks: Purse Info

The Houston Open has a total prize purse of $9,900,000. The winner receives $1,710,000.

The purse size ranks middle-of-the-pack on the standard One and Done schedule (Tier 3 by prize money). The upcoming Valero Texas Open, along with both the Byron Nelson and Charles Schwab Challenge in May, are all at a similar prize tier.

We do have some strong golfers, particularly those with Texas ties and those who have had success here in the past at this event.

Here are a few notable highlights for the 2026 Houston Open field:

  • 133 golfers in the field, with a cut. We have the same field size as a week ago at the Valspar.
  • Min Woo Lee won here last year: Lee, who has already posted two Top 10s this year, got his first PGA Tour win a year ago at this event, shooting 20-under.
  • Scottie Scheffler likely makes his final pre-Masters appearance: Scheffler, who has finished 2nd here two years in a row, has traditionally taken the next week off before heading to Augusta. UPDATE: Scheffler withdrew on Tuesday.
  • Houston Open is a long course where bombers can get an edge: The Memorial Park course is almost 7,500 yards while playing as a par 70. Driving distance is pretty important, but there is less penalty for missing the fairway here. The last two winners (Lee and Stephan Jager) ranked inside the Top 25 in driving distance but outside the top 100 in driving accuracy in the year they won.
