Our Genesis Invitational One and Done picks are here as we turn to Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles this week. It marks a return to the venue after a year away, as last year’s event was moved to Torrey Pines South following wildfires.
Collin Morikawa is coming off a bounce-back victory at Pebble Beach last week, his first win since the ZOZO Championship in 2023. Prior to that, Morikawa had finished outside the Top 50 and missed the cut in both starts this year.
Fewer than 1% of One and Done players picked Morikawa as the winner last week. Another 1% combined had either Sepp Straka or Min Woo Lee, who tied for 2nd, and most of the popular picks finished around 20th or worse.
Is this another week where it could pay to fade the chalk? We’ll break down the options and who’s likely to be popular.

Genesis Invitational One and Done Picks Strategy: Purse Info
The Genesis Invitational has a total prize purse of $20,000,000, the same as last week. However, because it features a cut (Top 50 and ties) and already has a smaller field, more prize money is allocated to the top. The winner receives $4,000,000.
That puts it behind only The Players Championship and (probably) the Masters and U.S. Open once their official 2026 purses are announced.
In other words, this is a good week to consider a top option.

Genesis Invitational Overview for One and Done Pools
This analysis is a complement to the data in our product, which provides customized weekly pick grades that account for factors like:
- The total number of picks you need to make this season
- The specific tournaments included in your pool
- The golfers you’ve already used so far
Here are a few notable highlights for the 2026 Genesis Invitational field:
- 72 golfers in the field, with a cut. The Top 50 from last year’s FedEx playoff, plus some players who qualified through the AON Next 10 and Swing 5, along with some Sponsor Invites, round out the field. As for the cut, the Top 50 and ties will advance to the weekend.
- Defending champ Ludvig Aberg enters with shaky form. Aberg won last year’s event at Torrey Pines South but missed two cuts and finished 37th last week, marking a slow first three starts this year.
- Neither Scottie nor Rory has won here yet. The only past champions in the field are Ludvig Aberg, Hideki Matsuyama two years ago, and both Max Homa and Adam Scott, who are playing on sponsor invitations this year. Several golfers currently on LIV have won here in the recent past, but are not playing on Tour anymore.
- Strong correlation between golfers who have won here and at Augusta. Several winners of this event have also won at the Masters, including golfers who have won at both. This includes Matsuyama, Bubba Watson, Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, and Mike Weir.
