Charles Schwab Challenge: Golf One and Done Picks Strategy (2026)
We run through odds, popularity, advanced stats, and future value to find the best Charles Schwab One and Done Picks this week.

Justin Thomas could be a popular pick at the Charles Schwab as his form has continued to improve.
The PGA Tour stays in Texas and heads slightly west to Fort Worth for the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club — one of the most storied non-major venues on Tour and a course that rewards precision and course management over raw power. This week represents another step down in purse from the recent run of Signature Events and the PGA Championship, but the Schwab Challenge features a more balanced field than last week’s Byron Nelson and carries its own rich history as one of the oldest events on Tour.
Here’s what you need to know for your Golf One and Done picks this week.
Charles Schwab Challenge One and Done Picks: Purse Info
The Charles Schwab Challenge carries a $9,900,000 purse, with $1,710,000 going to the winner. That’s a similar purse level to last week’s Byron Nelson and a meaningful drop from the $20,000,000 Signature Event purses we’ve seen recently. Factor that into how aggressively you deploy top-ranked golfers this week, as several stronger events remain on the calendar including The Memorial and the U.S. Open.

Charles Schwab Challenge Overview for One and Done Pools
This analysis is a complement to the data in our product, which provides customized weekly pick grades that account for factors like:
- The total number of picks you need to make this season.
- The specific tournaments included in your pool.
- The golfers you’ve already used so far.
Here are a few notable highlights for the 2026 Charles Schwab Challenge field:
- 130 golfers in the field, with a standard cut at 65 and ties.
- A more balanced field at the top than last week. The Charles Schwab Challenge features 7 golfers ranked in our Top 30 and 16 in our Top 50 — a meaningful upgrade from the Byron Nelson’s thin top end after Scottie Scheffler and Si Woo Kim last week. Ludvig Aberg, Russell Henley, Robert MacIntyre, J.J. Spaun, Rickie Fowler, Ben Griffin, and Hideki Matsuyama all check in among the top tier.
- Wyndham Clark withdrew Monday after a big Sunday win. Clark won the Byron Nelson last week with a closing round 60, on his way to a 30-under performance to win. It was Clark’s first win since the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach, when he similarly shot a 60 in the third round of the rain-shortened event to surge to the win, and with that victory and surge up the FedEx points list, he opted to take this week off.
- Colonial rewards precision over power. Colonial Country Club is a par 70 that has hosted this event since 1946. Unlike the birdie-fest conditions at TPC Craig Ranch last week, the winning scores at the Colonial, which puts a premium on iron play into small, well-protected greens, have been closer to 11-under or 12-under in recent years.
- Ben Griffin is your defending champion. Griffin used a win at this event a year ago to launch a strong summer, that ended with a Ryder Cup appearance.
- Save logic still applies. With The Memorial and U.S. Open still ahead, expect many pool players to hold back top-ranked golfers for bigger spots, like favorite Ludvig Aberg. That said, if your entry is set up in good shape for the rest of the year, you can consider a bigger name here.
