This week’s PGA event is The Zurich Classic in New Orleans. This is an unusual team event, the only one on the One and Done calendar, where golfers pair up and play in a four-ball (best ball) and foursomes (alternating shot) format.

The initial field is 148 golfers this year and 74 teams, with a cut after the first two rounds. The winning teams split the purse for the top two spots. For example, the top team splits the combined first and second-place prize money evenly.

Many One and Done pools do not use this event due to its unusual format, but some do. Since our Data Grid does not support this tournament format, this article will serve as our One and Done pick advice for this week.

Zurich Classic One and Done Pick Strategy: Purse Info

The Zurich Classic total purse is $9.5 million. That puts it on par with previous 2026 events, such as the Farmers Insurance Open, Cognizant Classic, and Phoenix Open.

However, because the winning pair splits the first and second-place amounts (resulting in each receiving $1,329,400), the first-place winner is worth less than every other event, except for opposite-field events like the Corales Puntacana Championship and the Myrtle Beach Classic.

Because of this, you should seriously consider future value planning and not using golfers you will want in bigger purse events.

For example, if your pool runs from now through the BMW Championship and requires one pick per tournament, you should be targeting golfers who fall outside your top 17 remaining picks.

However, there’s a caveat to this, based on your pool rules, and which golfer you have to use to get the scoring. Because if you can use either golfer in the pair, it gives you an opportunity to grab a pretty good golfer (maybe one you have even already used) as his teammate for free.
