The 2025 PGA Tour schedule kicks off this week with the Sentry Tournament at the Plantation Course at Kapalua. This highly anticipated event also marks the beginning of many One and Done pools, making it the perfect time to dive into the top contenders for your 2025 Sentry One and Done picks. This is the first of two events in Hawaii and was previously known as the Sentry Tournament of Champions or simply the Tournament of Champions. While all of last year’s tournament winners are eligible to play, the field now also includes golfers who finished in the FedEx Top 50 last year, making it no longer exclusive to tournament winners.

The Sentry has consistently been a birdie fest, where shooting low scores is essential to winning. Each of the last four winners has finished at -25 or better.

The Sentry Overview For One And Done Pools

This analysis serves as a complement to the data provided in our product, which provides customized weekly pick grades that consider factors like:

  • The total number of picks you need to make this season
  • The specific tournaments included in your pool
  • The golfers you’ve already picked so far (once the season is underway)

Here are some notable highlights for the 2025 Sentry field:

  • There will be a total of 60 golfers who tee it up this week, with 31 golfers who won at least one tournament in the 2024 season participating, along with 29 others who finished in the Top 50 of last year’s FedEx Cup Playoff standings.
  • No. 1 ranked Scottie Scheffler will not be among them, as he had to withdraw due to a hand injury suffered during a Christmas Day accident.
  • Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, and Shane Lowry were eligible but will not appear this week, likely preparing to open their year at the Dubai Desert Classic on the DP World Tour before heading to the United States sometime next month.
  • Viktor Hovland suffered a broken pinky toe last week, and has indicated he will try to play, but should be considered questionable because of the risk he cannot play through the injury.
  • Xander Schauffele is the betting favorite, followed by Collin Morikawa and Justin Thomas.
  • Chris Kirk was a surprise long-shot winner a year ago and is again a longer shot (+8000) in the betting markets.
  • Thomas (2017, 2020) and Schauffele (2019) are the only other past champions of The Sentry in this year’s field.
