Golf One And Done pool pick strategy for the 2025 Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which starts on Thursday, Jan. 30.

Will Ludvig Aberg bounce back from the flu and get his first win in over a year at Pebble Beach? (Scott Winters/Icon Sportswire)
The PGA Tour heads to Pebble Beach this week, and Scottie Scheffler will play for the first time in 2025. With that being the case, should he be considered for your One and Done pools? This is the first Signature Event since the Sentry (which took place at the start of January), and for most One and Done pools, it’s the first one on the schedule.
Most of the PGA Tour’s top golfers will be here, providing several elite options this week. Let’s break down the field!

AT&T Pebble Beach: Golf One And Done Picks Strategy
The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is a no-cut Signature Event, along with the Sentry in early January and the upcoming RBC Heritage (April), Truist Championship (May), and Travelers Championship (June).
It is the only Signature Event played at multiple courses this year, as the first two rounds are played at both Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill. For the first two rounds, amateurs and celebrities will also play in the event.
Pebble Beach has a total prize purse of $20,000,000, with $3,600,000 going to 1st place.
As a result, the first-place prize money is only below The Players Championship and the player-hosted Signature Events (Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational, and The Memorial). We do not have the Majors purse info for this year, but last year, that first-place amount was only below the U.S. Open (tied with The Masters).
So you should view this as a Top 5 to Top 10 type event for your One and Done pool and be willing to use golfers accordingly.

AT&T Pebble Beach Overview For One And Done Pools
This analysis serves as a complement to the data provided in our product, which provides customized weekly pick grades that consider factors like:
- The total number of picks you need to make this season
- The specific tournaments included in your pool
- The golfers you’ve already picked so far (once the season is underway)
Here are some notable highlights for the 2025 Pebble Beach field:
- 80 golfers are in the field. As a Signature Event, it includes the Top 50 players from last year in the FedEx standings, plus others who qualified through other pathways like the Aon Next 10 (from the Fall FedEx Standings) and Aon Swing 5 (most points from last three events, not otherwise in). The field was rounded out with several sponsor exemptions and others that ranked relatively highest in last year’s FedEx standings.
- Scottie Scheffler & Rory McIlroy make their 2025 PGA Tour debut. Our top two highest-ranked golfers in the field, Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, are making their season debuts on the PGA Tour. Scheffler missed a month because of a hand injury from an unfortunate Christmas accident, while McIlroy started his year by playing in Dubai. Other players making their PGA Tour debut this year include Tommy Fleetwood, Rasmus Hojgaard, Min Woo Lee, and Jordan Spieth.
- Xander Schauffele is the most notable absence. Schauffele, who won the PGA Championship and The Open last year, is still out after suffering a reported rib injury. He has not played since The Sentry at the start of January.
- Wyndham Clark is the defending champion. Wyndham Clark, No. 27 in our overall rankings, won this event last year with a course record of 60 in Saturday’s third round to take the lead. Then, the event was shortened to 54 holes because of weather.
- Ludvig Aberg was really good in his debut last year: Aberg, No. 7 in our rankings, put up a -16 through three rounds at this event last year, which would have been the best three-round score if it wasn’t for Clark’s course record. As a result, he is among the leaders in Strokes Gained at the event (+4.3). Other players with good course history in the last four years at Pebble Beach include Patrick Cantlay (top 12 three times), Tom Hoge (2022 champ and two other top 12s), Justin Rose (2023 champ and 11th last year), and Jason Day (6th last year and 7th in 2021).
- Hideki Matsuyama and Patrick Cantlay arrive in top form: The players with the best Strokes Gained in 2025 — who have played multiple PGA Tour events in January — include: Hideki Matsuyama (The Sentry winner, 16th at the Sony Open), Justin Thomas (2nd at the American Express), Patrick Cantlay (5th at the American Express and 15th at The Sentry), Sepp Straka (American Express winner), and Sung-Jae Im (3rd at The Sentry and 4th at Farmers Insurance Open).
