As we look ahead to the 2025 NFL Survivor schedule, here are five teams that project as the most valuable to plan around.

The 2025 NFL season will bring its usual mix of chaos and clarity. Some teams will unravel and become weekly “pick against” targets. Others will rise from obscurity and emerge as legitimate contenders. But while surprises are inevitable, NFL Survivor Pool success doesn’t come down to pure luck. The NFL is more predictable than it appears. Most years, we can identify the league’s top and bottom tiers with reasonable confidence before the first snap.

This preview featured the top five most valuable teams in 2024, and three of them reached the playoffs. That includes both No. 1 seeds (Detroit and Kansas City) and the AFC’s No. 2 seed (Buffalo). The other two, Cincinnati and San Francisco, fell short of expectations for different reasons but still played pivotal roles in shaping NFL Survivor outcomes.

This article highlights five of the most valuable teams for NFL Survivor Pools heading into 2025. Because you can only use each team once, every decision matters. The toughest choices are often whether to use a great team early or save them for later. We’ll walk through the profile of each team, when they might be most useful, and why they carry so much value this season.

#1 Buffalo Bills

Buffalo has the best overall NFL survivor profile entering the 2025 season. They are the only team with six different weeks above 75% win odds, and they show up consistently from September through January.

The Bills’ strongest early-season spot is Week 4, when they host New Orleans and project as the biggest favorite at 85%. But they’re also viable immediately in Week 2 at the Jets (79%) and Week 3 vs. Miami (75%).

If your pool runs into the late season, they finish with elite spots in:

Baltimore has multiple spike weeks that make it extremely valuable in survivor planning.

They start strong with Week 2 vs. Cleveland (83%), and continue to offer elite opportunities throughout the year:

• Week 11 at Cleveland (77%)

• Week 12 vs. NY Jets (85%)

• Week 16 vs. New England (78%)

Baltimore is also projected at or above 70% win odds in Weeks 5 (vs. Houston), 8 (vs. Chicago), and 14 (vs. Pittsburgh), giving you a wide array of midseason deployment options. That depth of utility, not just a couple of strong weeks, is what makes them so valuable in a survivor pool.

#3 Philadelphia Eagles

• Week 8 at NY Giants again (81%)

Later in the season, they also show up with a potential great spot in Week 15 vs. Las Vegas (79%).

#4 Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City’s 2025 schedule may not present as many matchups against the perceived weakest teams in the NFL as the teams above, but they still bring elite ceiling weeks and valuable planning flexibility.

They’re a bit tough to use early, as the opener is a neutral-site game vs. the Chargers, and Week 2 is at Philadelphia. However, things open up by Week 7, when they host Las Vegas (78%).

Their two best late-season usage windows are:

• Week 12 vs. Indianapolis (78%)

• Week 16 at Tennessee (75%)

In deeper pools, or ones that run through Week 18, Kansas City closes with four other weeks projected for at least 65% win odds, as its schedule eases in December. It’s worth noting that the Chiefs also step in as favorites on both Thanksgiving (at Dallas) and Christmas Day (vs. Denver), which is important for pools that require a pick from those limited slates (much like Circa Survivor).

#5 Detroit Lions

Detroit has no weeks where it is the #1 projected favorite, but that doesn’t mean the Lions aren’t survivor-relevant.

Their best two opportunities are:

• Week 4 vs. Cleveland (82%)

• Week 12 vs. NY Giants (78%)

Those are clear standout spots, especially if you need a pivot from heavily used teams like Buffalo or Baltimore, the only teams projected with slightly higher win odds each of those weeks. Beyond that, Detroit has  utility in:

• Week 9 vs. Minnesota (66%)

• Week 14 vs. Dallas (70%)

• Week 16 vs. Pittsburgh (70%)

If you want to play the “fade the top team” strategy in a contrarian or late-stage scenario, Detroit’s profile as a second-tier favorite can pay dividends. That Week 16 spot looks like one where you might want them if you have already used Baltimore, Buffalo, and Kansas City.

Like the Chiefs, Detroit is another team that checks in as a favorite on Thanksgiving (vs. Green Bay) and Christmas Day (at Minnesota), which is important if your pool uses those slates as exclusive pick weeks.
