Notre Dame has the most future value, if you can use them all season

One of the biggest mistakes you can make in a College Football Survivor pool is treating every week independently.

The safest pick this week might also be one of the most valuable teams to have available later. Other teams may have only one or two spots all season where they stand out as strong Survivor choices. Knowing the difference can help you decide when it’s worth using an elite team and when another option provides nearly as much safety without sacrificing as much future flexibility.

That’s what our College Football Survivor Future Value Ratings are designed to measure. We evaluate the remaining schedule and identify which teams consistently stand out relative to the other Survivor options available in each future week.

Future value can also create leverage later in your pool. A team with several attractive future spots will naturally get used by different entries at different times. As weeks pass, some opponents will have already used that team and others will have been eliminated. A team with only one great spot, meanwhile, may still be available to nearly everyone when that opportunity arrives.

Our ratings do not directly incorporate projected pick popularity, but understanding which teams have the most future utility can help you plan ahead for situations where having a valuable team available gives you options that much of the remaining field may no longer have. So planning on where teams make sense to use can help you avoid some of the “obvious” picks people are supposed to make, where a high percentage of the pool gets concentrated out of necessity as the season goes on.

We’ll update these rankings throughout the season as projections and schedules change. The newest rankings will always appear first, while previous editions will remain archived below so you can see how Future Value has evolved throughout the year.
